Monthly Miscellanea VI

Another month has flown by, and this one has been especially chaotic. We fill our summers up with so many playdates, trips to the pool, beach days, and trips to the lake that it’s hard to get any adulting done. πŸ˜‰ My laundry situation is BAD. But we only enjoy three months of decent weather in MN (at least that’s how I see it), so I want to soak it all up as much as we can! Plus, my kids are super social and love to hang out with friends and family, and that’s fine by me! Definitely the sanguine part of my personality coming out. Anyway, diving in to this month’s Monthly Miscellanea!

Dalmatian Wall Update

I finished my Dalmatian walls in my office that I mentioned here! Finally! To be completely honest, if I’d had any idea how long this project would take, I never would have started it, but I do love the way it turned out. That being said, I won’t be tackling another stencil any time soon. Or ever.

Dalmatian Wall Stencil in Office

Now I need to figure out how to strip my shelves in the garage, prime and paint them, and get those moved into the office, then tackle the rest of the room. My original plan included curtains, but I’m not sure I want to cover that much of the Dalmatian wall after how long it took. I’m also debating whether I want gold and marble look shelves to the right of my desk or something in a raw wood finish to ground the space a bit with all the glam. I find myself so drawn to natural elements lately, which is a big shift for me.

Music

“Simple” by Florida Georgia Line has become part of our summer soundtrack. It it such a fun song, and Adam says it reminds me of him. Country isn’t my first choice of music, but Adam loves it, and so do my sister and her husband, so we listen to it a lot at the lake, and this song is catchy and upbeat, with a bit of a pop country feel. My sister dubbed this our summer theme song.

Camp Week

Kaden went to camp at the beginning of the month, and while it is always a little tough dropping him off, we also knew he would have an amazing time with his buddies. Because this was his second year, he felt super confident and excited and knew exactly where to go.

We checked him into his cabin, chatted with some of the parents from school, observed him hanging out with his friends (and snapped a few pics), and when we finally went and said goodbye to him, he was completely un-phased and casually waved and said, “Bye.” So much tougher on us. πŸ˜‰

Bells also had a great time running around with some of the younger siblings, and I know she enjoyed having me and Adam all to herself for a few days.

Four Poster Beds

I find myself increasingly more enamored with this “New Traditional” style that has become so popular, with a bit of boho/beachy flair thrown in. To that end, I purchased a used solid wood four poster bed from a place called Furnishare for a measly $36. I’m either going to paint it black or white, OR I’ll strip the stain off and go for more of a raw wood look.

I’m not 100% sure if the bed will end up in our master bedroom, or in the basement guest room, but I just couldn’t resist a solid wood bed for that price, so I knew I had to find a place for it.

That’s all for now, and I’m taking the next week off to spend some time with my family at the lake. I hope you have a fabulous week and enjoy the Fourth of July!
