Colorful Christmas Home Tour

Wow, I have been MIA for a while… I didn’t even manage to finish my One Room Challenge in time (due to delayed and missing shipments, painting fiascos, and time shortages), which is super frustrating for a perfectionist like me, but there will still be a room reveal coming shortly after Christmas. We traveled over Thanksgiving to be with my parents in Florida, and I feel like I’ve been playing catch up ever since. Now we leave again tomorrow to go see them for Christmas, but I wanted to get a few quick photos of our colorful Christmas home tour up before we leave.

I bought the burgundy and pink floral swags I arranged over my mantle sometime in late October or early November. I didn’t do much for fall decor, but I fell in love with those flowers and didn’t want to part with them, so I planned my tree around them. I didn’t even have to buy anything new… The tree decor is primarily stuff my mom was donating to Goodwill. Super score for me!

The tree is so much simpler this year compared to what I normally do, or what I did last year, but I’m loving it! It feels like the right year for a simple tree…

Although I didn’t really keep it simple anywhere else!

I switched up the seating arrangement this year too.

The primary reason for the switch is that blank white wall… I still haven’t figured out exactly what I want to hang behind the sofa, so it seemed like a waste of a blank slate to put the tree anywhere else.

Per usual, I kept the kitchen decor pretty much the same as always, except for the addition of the gold wreath behind the range. I don’t like clutter on the island because we do a LOT of life there, and by the end of the day, it’s usually strewn with books, school papers, and art supplies, as well as a few leftover dishes that didn’t get cleared. So anything additional just gets in the way.

I do love the wreath though. It’s a simple festive touch!

Another new addition this year is a colorful Christmas village. My mom was donating these traditional houses to Goodwill last year, so I claimed them. Three of them are hand painted with acrylic craft paint (two by Arabella and one by me), and the other three were spray painted. I started adding some details to the darker blue one by hand, but didn’t finish. Eventually I’ll add details to the pink ones too.

The fun thing with the colorful village is that I can add to it every year… There’s no need to only get houses from a certain line, because once we paint them, they’ll add have a less traditional feel anyway!

And it’s something Arabella and I can do together… We could both sit and paint these for hours (and have).

I changed it up a bit in the foyer too, using a pillow and throw blanket that I already had.

My grandma’s antique table feels like the star of the foyer show to me… Clocking in at a whopping 120+ years old, she’s been in our family for a century, and I absolutely love her.

Isn’t she pretty?!

I also changed up my thrifted spray painted etagere, and I love how it turned out this year!

The white village was a gift from my mom, and I’ve had the bottle brush trees for a couple of years (and they’ve seen better days).

The art was purchased off etsy and I changed the colors in Photoshop to work a little better with my decor.

This thrifted and spray painted nativity scene is my forever favorite!

That’s all I’ve got as far as the colorful Christmas home tour of 2020. I’m short on time, so won’t be putting affiliate links in (most of it is thrifted or old anyway), but if you have questions about where specific items are from, feel free to reach out and ask. I’ll leave you with a bunch more pictures that can speak for themselves…
