We’re on to week six of the Interior Design Style Files, and it’s the final week of the “Glam” series. I’m excited to chat about Eclectic Glam, which is probably my current home style description. Eclectic glam is the most personal of all glam decorating styles, pulling from various periods and styles, depending on the personal aesthetic of the homeowner. Modern and traditional elements are mixed throughout, often as well as global influences, a mix of patterns, and deep vibrant colors. We could call my mood boards this week “an ode to Anthropologie Home,” since this brand definitely embodies the eclectic glam style!

Eclectic Glam

Eclectic Glam interior design style is the most exuberant of all of the glam styles, mixing pieces from various time periods, styles, and often employing a wide color scheme. Lest you think this means anything goes, let me caution you… Eclectic Glam is probably the most difficult of the glam styles to pull off, because it takes a practiced eye to make sure the space remains visually balanced. There’s a fine line between an eclectically pulled together space and a hodge-podgey (that’s an adjective, right?!) mess! The easiest way to pull this style off is to start with a neutral background, find one statement piece to build the room around, rely heavily on texture, and unify bold patterns with a cohesive color scheme. Abundant use of luxe materials and finishes, such as mirrored furniture, mixed metal finishes, marble, fur, and velvet, converts eclectic style into Eclectic Glam.
